Back in July of 2002, I discovered Xanga via AIM profiles. I’ve never heard the term “blog”, however I became instantly addicted for nearly 6 years straight before going into full hermit mode.
I’m glad I started writing when I was 19, because it does document an interesting trend of maturity levels, objects of interest, and thought process:
Basic things about my blog:
- It was a black background with red Comic Sans MS font. Which was the shit back then.
Ages 19-21
Subjects discussed: Working at student patrol, working out, martial arts, things I did during the day, Pro Wrestling, activities and conversations with friends
Writing Style: Teenage girl, filled with CAPS and exclamation points with some emoticons
Mood: Carefree
Ages 21-23
Subjects discussed: Recent major change to business, Money and how it was the center of my world, recent job bouncing at a Gentlemen’s Club, things that went on in college coursework, weekend activities
Writing Style: Less emotional, more descriptive
Mood: Optimistic and Observant
Ages 23-25
Subjects discussed: post college alienation, friends not keeping contact, hate towards the world, not being able to find a job, being miserable at many jobs, not many luck with certain women, home life not going well. Dark period basically
Writing Style: Very descriptive with a lot of visual
Mood: Emo and bitter
Today, I can say I’m honestly a blend of all three at different times of the year. So buy me a pony, ferrari, or trench coat.
Or this:

Hopefully I can get everything together with another project I’m working on. Then I can upgrade my tumblr from simple reblogs.
