Quick review of Haywire starring Gina Carano.
Going into the film: It was something to watch on a Sunday boredom kick. There were no expectations of this being a good movie what so ever. However it is pleasant to look at Gina Carano.
Watching the film: The film has a pacing, action, and feel similar to the Ryan Gosseling movie Drive. The action/fight sequences were top notch in terms of technique and choreography. Also, what do you do when you build a movie around a MMA fighter? You make only enough dialogue as necessary to move the plot. It was great.
After the film: I was thoroughly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone.
Next time when I go into this dealership:

You guys. This is an actual television commercial I saw on an actual television last night.
What. What is happening. I do not understand.
What.
(Jeff was so amazed, he ripped this video from our TiVo because we needed to share this genius with the world.)
I don’t care for the political stuff, it’s funny because he takes his shirt off first.
So another “Shit _____ Says” video about Chicago. This one isn’t as funny, but it’s actually more accurate to how real natives talk.
Shit Chicagoans Say
Yes yes this has been done to DEATH but this is pretty well done I say. Bra-VO.
And I don’t know HOW they rigged it, but the “views” count has been stuck at 312 all night despite obviously racking up more than that. Nice little Easter egg.
Oh man, so true so true. They do a lot of “Shit People Say”, but you gotta love it when it hits close to home.
The funny thing is I was born and raised in the southside (Chinatown what what), and I didn’t start saying this crap till I moved to LP.
I had the sudden urge to google “Lao Fu Tze”. This comic was something I read when I was a child. Everytime I went to the library, I would come back with the same thing: Encyclopedia Brown, a drawing book, and a Lao Fu Tze novel.
Well today I found this website. I also just found out it’s called “Old Master Q”
Honestly, I don’t know how to describe the feeling of nostalgia that is flowing through me right now.
Things I’m reminded of:
- Living with my grandparents
- Roaming chinatown
- The smell of dusty books in the Chinatown CPL Branch
- The townhouse where we used to live right after my folks got divorced (Age 6).
- The carefree life of a child
- Having massive pride in my Chinese Culture
It’s sad to say today I am like every other adult, but this was a nice break in memory lane.
GPOY….T?
T also stands for trejo, as this lighting makes me have the face of Danny Trejo.
And for my friend Kendall, my hair is actually pulled back in a pony tail behind my head, that’s why everything looks shorter than what it really is. I won’t cut it.
